Volunteers Welcome

 

The University GED test site was opened in September of 2005 due in large part to the generous support of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Volunteer Center of Otsego County.

 

We utilize volunteers to staff the GED office in our Media Center where GED candidates come to study using PLATO software.  While here, and after training, volunteers perform some or all of the following services dependent upon their respective skills, interest and comfort level:

 

General questions and answers on the program;

Set-up of candidates in PLATO software;

General questions and answers on subject matter content;

Encouragement and mentorship; and

Student tutoring matched to volunteer skill sets.
