Description:

If you’re an experienced motorcycle enthusiast or perhaps you are considering this may be the ideal time to begin riding – this class will be for you. Maybe you dream of riding a touring bike on long trips with saddlebags full, or wandering the wilderness on a dual sport trail bike with friends and family. How about loading a sport bike in the back of the pickup and heading off to the mountains, or packing your sport touring bike and finding little off the beaten path roads to ride. If you dream of riding a cruiser, sport bike, dual sport, motocross, or whatever - there will be information that will help make you a smarter and safer motorcyclist. Description:

An effective leader has the ability to get a group of diverse and talented people working together towards a common goal. Sounds easy in principle, and yet this can be a large challenge for many leaders today. In order to succeed as a talented leader, you need everyone contributing and performing individual duties and responsibilities at a very high level of proficiency. This workshop recognizes that when project teams perform above expectations, it is often due to powerful people skills and strong team leadership. In a way that no other training does, this workshop integrates interpersonal skills and psychological principles into a practical, person-centered, results-driven guide for project leadership. The practical concepts covered in this workshop are reinforced by examples of real-world situations and strategies that can be used to quickly recall and apply key leadership and management concepts. Participants will learn about critical leadership qualities that contribute to personal and organizational success, as well as key tips that will help build effective relationships.

Lifequarding American Red Cross Certified - Summer, 2008 Recreation/Science
Description:

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to teach candidates the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries. Tuition includes pool fees, Lifeguarding manual, and CPR pocket mask. Prerequisites: • Minimum age of 15. • Swim 300 yards continuously, in the following order. • 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. • 100 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence. • 100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. • Swim 20 yards, dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to starting point with the object within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

NEW DATES Aunt Shelley's Goat Camp - Summer, 2008 Art & Music
Description:

Students will have hands-on farm experience in an outdoor class setting. The first class is all about dairy goats and their kids. Young people will learn basic animal husbandry skills which will include learning how to milk a goat and feed the babies. The next week students will focus on other uses for goats. They will go on a one hour hike with a team of experienced pack goats. Please wear outdoor clothes suitable for farm activity for both classes. Classes rescheduled in case of rain.
