About the Course:

 

This is a course for individuals wanting to learn to use a computer.  You will learn to turn it on, use Windows XP, understand the desktop, use a mouse, and work with, files and folders.  You will learn how to get access to the internet and browse the internet. You will sign up for an e-mail account, send-e-mail to individuals and groups; send attachments and pictures with your e-mail.

 

Topics Covered

  • Turning on a computer and launch Microsoft Windows
  • Identify the objects on the desktop
  • Perform basic mouse operations: point, click, right-click, double click and drag
  • Change mouse functions, set desktop background and screen savers
  • Display the start menu and launch a program
  • Open, minimize, maximize, restore, close, move size and scroll a window
  • Copy, move, rename and delete files
  • Logging off and turning off the computer
  • Accessing and browsing the internet
  • Understanding various types of web sites and saving favorites sites
  • Learning to shop safely on the internet
  • Set up an e-mail account and send and receive e-mails with attachments
 

About the Instructor:

Susan Hellenberg has lived in the Gaylord area for over 16 years. Susan has coordinated and executed employee training regarding computers, office products and software publishing throughout her career. While working for a software publishing company, Susan completed several tiers of self taught training sessions and in addition trained staff on marketing, sales and technical support.
