Polish: Beginner & Intermediate - Winter/Spring, 2010

About the course:

Beginner:

This course will impact an introductory knowledge of the Polish language. The textbook, "Mastering Polish" (Albert Juszczak, rev. 2007, with tow CD's) will help achieve conversational ability and basic reading and writing skills. Those with previous Polish language experience will be able to progress at their own rate, while beginners will be given a solid foundation. The course includes Polish culture, history, and includes cinema and cooking.

 

Intermediate:

This course will help the students further develop their reading abilities. Brief writing exercises will be part of each class. The main focus will be the development of conversational skills. The course includes Polish culture, history, and includes cinema and cooking.

 

About the instructor:

 

Wayne Wyrembelski was born in Posen, Michigan.  He has lived in Gaylord for the last thirty years and for that same period of time, he has been the Music Director at St. Mary Cathedral.  He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Michigan, a Master of Arts Degree from Wayne State in Historical Musicology and a Phd. from University of Michigan in music.  With respect to the languages, he has studied Latin, German, Polish and Russian.  He is fluent and considers Polish as his "first language".
