Paper Making at Home - Spring, 2010

About the course:

In this class people will learn a brief history of papermaking, how current cultures make paper, identification of paper types, and how to create a paper studio in a home environment. Students will be shown how to recycle paper scraps from their home (even junk mail will work) and the process of boiling fibers from nature (banana paper). Students will leave with their own screen, deckle, a small couching screen, and some homemade paper (all included in the tuition). If time permits students will learn how to make a small stab bound book.
