Basic Drawing - Spring 2010

About the course:  

This class is for the beginner who wants to learn technique through drawing the hand as the medium. The class will meet three sessions for one hour and a half each session. Class size is limited to provide individual attention to each student as well as class lecture on technique by the instructor.

Equipment students will need for class:

  • One 9"x12" (or larger) pad of white drawing paper.
  • Pencils including HB, 2B, 3B, 5B, 6B. One needed eraser.
  • One pencil sharpener.

 

 

About the instructor:

 

Tom Russell studied art at Sienna Heights College in Adrian, Michigan, and at Washtenau Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has worked as a free lance illustrator for twenty-eight years beginning with Agua Field Publications located in New Jersey, followed wtih Fur, Fish, Game magazine in Columbus, Ohio. The mediums he works in are pencil, pen and ink, charcoal pencil, pastels, conte' crayon, watercolors, acrylics, and clay. Along with clay sculpture he also works in wood with both carving and pyrographics. He has been a drawing instructor to home school students for the past decade.
