2018 Summer Youth Camps

Discovery Destination Camp

Date: June 18th – June 22nd

9:00 a.m. – Noon (3rd through 5th grade)

1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (6th through 8th grade)

Cost: $20.00

Students entering grades 3rd through 8th will have an opportunity to explore occupational and technical careers through the investigation of science, and technology with hands-on activities.  The following topics will be introduced: Fun with Rockets, Material Science, Welding and Telemetry Animal tracking.

Fun with Rockets: Build and understand how rockets move through space.  Each student will be responsible for designing, creating, and flying their rocket!!  They will be able to explain and show their families how rockets move.

Technology Meets Animals: Remotely track animals and so much more! Students will be introduced to Radio telemetry and HAM Radio through hands-on activities.

Material Science/Welding:  Learn about the concept of specific heat and welding through hands-on experiments.  plus, how to safely turn molten metal into some very cool projects you’ll take home with you.  It is all about learning a new skill safely and having some fun while you are doing it!  Let’s get to melting some metal!

Lego WeDo Camp


Date: July 17th – 19th

9:00 a.m. – Noon

Cost: $25.00

Grades: 3rd through 5th 

Do you Love LEGO?  Are you entering grades 3rd through 5th If, yes, then this camp is for you! You will discover how to apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics by building LEGO models and using LEGO WeDo 2.0.  This camp will enhance your creativity, logic and problem-solving skills.





Lego Robotics Camp

Date: July 17th – 19th

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $25.00

Grades: 6th through 8th

This is a level 1 class that introduces students entering grades 6th through 8th to LEGO Robotics.  You’ll learn how to program using the Lego software, and work with basic sensors. On the final day of class, you will use what you have learned to complete challenges of varying difficulty.
