Dog Obedience Fall 2017

About the Course:
Having a well-trained dog means less stress in your life. It also means less stress in your dog’s life. Proper training channels your dog’s energy into appropriate behavior, and has a calming effect on most dogs. Your dog will become more integrated into your household life because their disruptive tendencies will be minimized. The small amount of time spent training your dog is rewarded with a lifetime of loyalty and companionship. There is nothing more satisfying and heartwarming than the bond that grows between the trainer and their pet. You will be amazed how quickly your dog responds to proper training.

This class is designed for those who are serious about having a well-trained dog, and are willing to spend the time required working with their dog to be successful. The class time is spent providing students with correct training technique, through the practice of training exercises, to maximize positive results. Dogs learn through repetition and students need to spend time outside of class working with their dog to master each exercise. All exercises begin on-leash, with the goal of completing them successfully off-leash by class-end.

The class exercises are structured to familiarize students with the rules and protocol of a typical obedience trial for those students who wish to pursue an obedience title for their dog at AKC sponsored trials. Exercises taught in class include heel on leash, figure eight, stand for exam, heel free, recall, long sit, and long down.

You will find the class fun, informative, fast-paced, and rewarding. One-on-one instruction will be provided when appropriate and class time allows.

All dogs can benefit from obedience training. Dogs should be at least 6 months old. All dogs require proof of proper vaccination prior to admittance to class.
